Communal Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising in Walkowice

Communal Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising in Walkowice

On 13 February - exactly 100 years after the end of insurgent fights in the area of Romanowo and Walkowice - the Communal Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising were held. The event was devoted to the celebration of the struggle for independence of the local population, which was heroically inscribed in the won Greater Poland Uprising, and thus in the regaining of independence.

The celebrations began with a solemn mass. Then, guests and residents marched to the square in Walkowice, where the bell of victory was donated by the owner of Komat, Mieczysław Kozłowski and the owner of the Viabud company, Jacek Gruszkiewicz. The new bell is a replica of a historical bell funded by the inhabitants of Walkowice in 1859. Viabud took care of the preparation of the square, and the structure on which the new bell was hung was made by Komat. Teachers and students from the Primary School in Romanowo Dolne were also responsible for organizing the celebrations, with Principal Róża Wesołek at the forefront as well as village administrators and local social workers.

The event ended with a wonderful reconstruction of the fights of Romanowo and Walkowice.

The ceremony was attended by many representatives of the authorities, local institutions and schools, as well as residents who came together with their families to celebrate in the spirit of patriotism.

We are extremely proud that we could be part of such a lofty event.
